What makes our therapists distinctive
People always ask us what makes us as therapists distinctive. So, as part of mental health awareness month, we, Kristen and Jomo, thought we would share what makes us unique.
Many traditional approaches to treating psychological disorders focus primarily on the individual; we focus on relationships.
Research indicates that couple and family therapy are effective treatments for various psychological disorders, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Unhealthy family dynamics can contribute to developing and maintaining various psychological disorders; we work to change these dynamics to assist persons in getting better.
Both couple and family therapy are non-pathologising; we primarily see psychological distress as being located between individuals, in their relationship, not within the person. As a result, many of our clients feel unjudged and more comfortable talking to us.
Relational therapies are often short-term in nature and, as a result, cost-effective; many of our clients do between 12-25 sessions.
